It’s a freakin’ hot and humid Black Saturday afternoon outside and the only thing cooling me down here at home is an electric fan in full blast. The lone neighborhood store down the street in my village which sells ice cream has been closed since early this week and there has been no sign at all that it will open until Easter.

So whats’ a person to do when global warming is taking its toll on your sweat glands and you are in a self-imposed seclusion?

  1. Open the refrigerator, take everything out and let yourself in so you can have a blissful slumber. (Fat chance of getting all of ME inside the fridge, lol)
  2. Take several baths (What? Me? Bath? I sweat the moment I step out of the shower!)
  3. Think cold thoughts. Wikihow enumerates several steps on how to cool yourself without airconditioning (check it out!) and thinking cool is one of them. Now this one I have to try. If there’s one thing I have learned, it is never to underestimate the power of the mind. So now I’m thinking of three things and I’m feeling a bit cooler already.

THOUGHT BUBBLE NUMBER 1: HAVE YOUR FILL OF FIC’S ICE CREAM AND FROZEN YOGURT (The Ice Cream Bar, Joya Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati)

THOUGHT BUBBLE NUMBER 2: HIT THE BEACH OR THE POOL (Dakak Park and Beach Resort)

THOUGHT BUBBLE NUMBER 3: TAKE A REFRESHING SWIM UNDER THE WATERFALLS (Kasabangan Falls, Cabucgayan, Province of Biliran)

How about you?

How do you intend to beat the summer heat?
