She was my Grade 1 teacher but she taught me all I need to know to survive in this journey called life. She turned 70 this year but I will always be in awe of her energy and joie de vivre which has never wavered in the face of life’s ups and downs.
I did not get the chance to greet her a Happy Mother’s Day last Sunday. I was in a far-away land exploring the ruins of abandoned temples together with my wife. But I know she understands. After all, she was the one who — after examining the flat moles on the soles of my feet when I was young — predicted that I will be a wanderer.
Belated Happy Mother’s Day Nanay!
